Call for Entries
The American Society of Landscape Architects California Sierra Chapter, in cooperation with The Friend of Fremont Park and the Capital Area Development Authority (CADA), announces an open competition for the design of renovations to the Sacramento urban park known as Fremont Park. Landscape architects, architects, artists, students and all other applicable design disciplines are invited to take part in this year’s design competition.
The competition seeks to explore innovative and creative ways of revitalizing an existing city park through the use of new materials, technology, aesthetics, programming, and spatial organization while respecting the history, context, and existing programming needs of the site. A truly successful concept will also emphasize environmentally-friendly products, means of production and systems (i.e.sustainable and green design). Participants can choose to work independently or in collaboration with their colleagues. Registration forms must be received by the end of the business day on July 31st, 2009. A competition design brief, including base information and detailed design criteria, will be e-mailed to all applicants on August 3rd. Competition submittal packages are due by the end of the business day September 15th, 2009.
