Fremont Park Chess Festival - Saturday April 25th: 10am - 2pm

Please join the Sacramento Chess Club and Friends of Fremont Park for a fun filled afternoon of chess in Fremont Park.

Saturday April 25th: 10am - 2pm (In case of rain, event will be moved to May 9th)
  • Open Chess: 10am - 2pm
  • Kid's Chess Lessons: 10am and 12pm
  • Simultaneous Exhibitions Starts at 11am
  • Unrated Chess Quads (mini-tournaments) : 12:30pm - 1:30pm. Trophies to the winners. Sign ups at the event.

Come to learn, play and watch the simultaneous play in action! For those who have not seen a simultaneous, it's quite the scene. One person playing 10-20 people simultaneously jumping from board to board without missing a beat!

Donations are needed to help Friends of Fremont Park continue to bring community events to Fremont Park. If you or your company are interested in being a sponsor, please contact us. No donation is too small and is much appreciated.

The Friends of Fremont Park (FFP) will gather and work together for the improvement of Fremont Park . The primary objectives of FFP are to ensure that Fremont Park is a safe and pleasant place for neighborhood residents and visitors and to establish the park as a vital focal point of a thriving community. Activities of the FFP will include the continued pursuit of improvements and enhancements to the park and the promotion of the park as a location for neighborhood gatherings and planned community events.

  1. There should be more chess events like this. I live near Fremont Park but this is the first time I've heard of such a gathering. I'm a big fan of mind games like chess and poker.
